heyy... jus wnted to say sthing. ok. reallie hope tht everyone will take band prac seriously sit properly during combine, slack less and stuff. i esp wnt the sec2s n 1s to sit properly during combine. i knw you thk its unfair cos sometimes christina n emily refuse to sit properly or stuff....sometimes the three of us don't always set such a good example to follow ; and stimes you thk tht ms sia is totally oblivious to our sectns presence and practically the whole band doesn't care ab this kind of stuff. but it really matters, it affects your playing in terms of tone and it just goes to reflect on the kind of person you are. make and effort to follow wht ms sia tells you because as much as you might not like her, she really knows wht she's talking abt. yups. and basically, to learn music you need three main thgs.
1. practice
2. knowledge
3. listening
music is essentially like communication, you need to practise the technical stuff in order to communicate facts like rhythm and notes. and you need knowledge to express your feelings and to help the composer bring out whtever feelings they write dwn. you need to knw wht the song is abt and the backgrnd of the song/composer so you can play songs the way they are supposed to be. you need to listen to other people playing too.
and go for concerts...hear wht other bands sound like. and learn frm them. don't just go to concerts and enjoy urself
but come back without learning anything. listen to the tuning of the band, look at how they sit, how they play
what are their strong and weak pts and how we can improve.
cos next year's syf already, and its coming real soon if we're going to get a gold, you really need to put in the effort and time don't just practise blindly and just play pieces tht you thk sound nice its not that hard, its just how much you wnt tht gold.
like wht ms sia said, the standard of the whole band is judged by the standard of the weakest player so everyone really needs to try hard to improve tone, sightreading etc. i really wnt the whole sectn to gt into syf. you have seen wht ms sia did to the trombones and enid + simin the other day. it could be worse. so please please practice hard.

hello hello! gosh i miss u pple like crazy! decided to make an entry here after dunno how long.. haha im sorry i've sorta been neglectin dis place. yikes i still owe everyone of u all a letter.. haha aiyo i dont seem to know wad to say alr la. jus miss the band lots, miss the sec4 bandits lots, miss the saxes lots, miss my instru lots, miss the room lots.. miss everything dere is to band. hmm so to u pple: treasure wad u have now! cos time flies.. n hmm, i dunno if i told u all dis before, but do treasure ur band mates more. cos they're the ones u hafta stick with up til sec4.. n to me, my band mates r the most valuable frens i've made.. cos u reali go thru so much thgs tgt. yup.. n no matter wad happens, stick tgt! work hard tgt! have fun tgt! everything tgt la! dats the most impt part :D haha alrite dats all i hafta say for now. take care of each other n take care of urselves k? loveee :) steffiana
